Co-ordination between netas and officials needed for smooth administration: MLA

Mysore/Mysuru: Amid the row over Hunsur Congress MLA H.P. Manjunath’s ‘Maharani jibe’ at Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohini Sindhuri, Chamundeshwari JD(S) MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) has said that proper co-ordination between officials and people representatives (netas) is needed for smooth administration.

Speaking to SOM in the wake of the row, GTD said that the DC has launched Janaspandana  programme, which is aimed at direct contact with the people and the same took place in his constituency a couple of days ago, for which he was not invited.

Maintaining that the Janaspandana programme is a good initiative of the District Administration, he said that DCs of all other districts too have started this public contact programme and no people representatives seem to have been invited for it.

Noting that there are no reports of objections raised by people representatives for this programme, Devegowda observed that there can be breach of protocol if local Legislators are not invited for Government programmes such as launching of works, inauguration of programmes and events, dedication of projects and the like. He further said that the observation of former Assembly Speaker Krishna that there is no hard and fast rule that Legislators must be invited for each and every programme, must be taken note of.

Contending that the row between Hunsur MLA and the DC has given rise to confusions, GTD noted that there is a general public belief that some people representatives have started attacking the DC due to prejudice and for their own personal reasons. However, it is satisfactory to note that District Minister S.T. Somashekar has voluntarily come forward to resolve the row  between the DC and MLA and it is hoped that such incidents do not recur.

Urging Minister Somashekar to hold a meeting in this regard at the earliest, Devegowda hoped that the meeting will find a long lasting solution for preventing such tiffs  and rows between officials and people representatives in the future.
