Karnataka gained the vital first innings points in the drawn four-day match in Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy 2019-2020 tie against Maharashtra played at the Reliance Cricket Ground here yesterday.
Batting first, Maharashtra scored 367 in their first essay. R.R. Nikan top scored with 148. In reply, Karnataka, helped by some good performance by opener and Mysuru lad S.J. Nikin Jose (178, 308b, 21×4) and N. Jayesh (109), scored 417 in 128 overs. Nikin Jose and Jayesh added 247-runs for the second wicket for Karnataka.
In their second essay, Maharashtra scored 245/7 in 80 overs and the match ended in a draw.
Swapnil P. Fulpagar top scored with 121 (15×4, 1×6). Skipper Kishan S. Bedare from Mysuru took 2/19 and left-arm spinner Thushar Harikrishnakumar from Mysuru took 2/22 for Karnataka. Karnataka secured 3 points while Maharashtra secured 1 point.
