A century by Ramandeep Singh (134) and an unbeaten knock of 76 by Abhinav Sharma, helped Punjab to gain the vital first innings points in the drawn four-day game played against Karnataka at Patiala on Thursday.
Put into bat, Karnataka scored 345 in 97.3 overs. Bhandage scored a well compiled century 127 and he was ably supported by N.Jayesh (68), V.Vaishak (36), Abul Hasan Khalid (36) and B.U. Shivakumar (28) scored 345 in 97.3 overs.
In reply, Punjab were bowled out for 346 in 93.1 overs. Punjan gained a solitary run-first innings lead. Ramandeep Singh top scored with 134. Abhinav Sharma (76 n.o) and Jashanpreet Singh (59) were the other scorers. B.U. Shivakumar (five for 55), Mysuru lad Kishan S. Bedare two for 61) and Pranav Bhatia (two for 48) were among the wickets. Punjab gained three points while Karnataka secured a solitary point for a draw.
