Mysuru: A 24-year-old college student and a stone crusher worker were killed in an accident at Kodishettypura near Srirangapatna on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway this morning.
The accident was caused by a speeding car that was coming to Mysuru from Bengaluru at 8 am.
According to Srirangapatna Police and eyewitnesses, the college student identified as Mounashree, who had recently got married, was waiting for a bus to reach her college on Mysuru.
A Maruti Ritz car that was coming from Bengaluru lost control and first hit a two-wheeler on which stone crusher workers Santosh and Sridhar were proceeding to their workplace. Both Santosh and Sridhar hailed from Uttara Kannada district.
The impact of the accident was such that the bike after getting hit by the car forcibly hit Mounashree. Santosh, who was on the bike, was flung to a distance and he was killed on the spot.
One of Mounashree’s legs was broken and she also sustained severe head injuries. Sridhar too sustained severe injuries.
Passers-by shifted Mounashree to Apollo Hospital where she breathed her last.
The other injured including three inmates of the car and Sridhar have been admitted to Narayana Hrudayalaya.
