College students enact street play on social issues

Mysore/Mysuru: The students of Chayadevi B.Ed College, Pensioners Block, Rajendranagar in city, celebrated the National Youth Day marking the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, in a purposeful manner by performing street plays themed on issues that are bothering the society, at Dufferin Clock tower (Chikka Gadiyara) in front of the southern entrance of Devaraja Market in the heart of the city on Friday.

The students in three teams — named as Swami Vivekananda, APJ Abdul Kalam and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar — enacted the plays focusing mainly on drug addiction among the youth and student fraternity, the discarding of aged parents and the disastrous effects of excessive use of mobile phones, especially by youth.

Earlier, Devaraja Police Inspector B. Shivakumar inaugurated the street plays. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the role of youths in the well-being of the society.

College Principal Dr. C. Anthony Paul Raj, Professors Suma, Rekha, Pallavi, Pooja, Pampateertha, N. Tejaswi & Balaram, Programme Co-ordinator & Assistant Professor G.R. Umesh, and others were present.
