Hunsur: With a tiger devouring a cow at Taragan Estate at K.G. Hebbanakuppe village coming under Neralakuppe Gram Panchayat in Hunsur taluk, the Forest authorities have launched a combing operation to trap the elusive tiger, which is said to be on the prowl near the village for the past fewdays.
Taragan Estate owner Thomas Taragan had let cattle graze in the fields of the estate on Thursday, when one cow in the herd went missing.
Later, Taragan found the caracass of a cow lying in a bush on Friday morning, with enough evidence to suggest that a tiger had devoured the cow, following which he informed the matter to Forest Department Officials.
Thereafter, a team of forest officials led by RFO Hanumantharaju, visited the spot.
Later, the Forest officials led by DRFO Veerabhadraiah, launched combing operations with the help of domesticated elephants Balarama and Ganesha, to trace the elusive tiger.
The Department has also installed CC cameras at several points in the vicinity to trace the movement of the tiger.
