Mysuru: A Committee consisting of officials from the Forest Department, MCC, MUDA and members of various NGOs would be formed to spread green cover in city, said DC D. Randeep here this morning.
Chairing another meeting at his office regarding cleanliness, plastic ban and construction of public toilets in city, the DC instructed the officials to form the Committee at the earliest.
The DC sought the reason for Mysuru slipping to fifth position as the cleanest city from the MCC Commissioner, who said that 45 marks was lost as no documentation was done earlier before he took charge and added that he was getting all the documentations done now.
He also said that no money had been utilised from the Swachatha Fund for construction of public toilets which had also cost them marks during the survey.
Randeep instructed the officials to keep the city clean always and not to wait for the survey to happen. He also instructed to get all the documentation updated and send him a copy for reference.
Speaking about effective plastic ban in city, the MCC Commissioner said that plastic items such as plates, glass and other items are being stored in Bandipalya which is being transported to city in two-wheelers and added that the MCC could not take action on traders at Bandipalya as it does not come under MCC’s jurisdiction.
The DC instructed the Tahsildar to conduct raids on shops selling the banned plastic with the help of MCC’s Abhaya team and under Police protection.
