Sir,
Some months back MCC had mooted the idea of penalising house owners if they find common drain pipe from terrace and bathroom. This was a welcome move, as drain pipe from terrace should be separate, so that water comes in compound and goes in the designated storm water drain.
If this pipe were to be common, then during monsoon, the water flows into UGD system choking the already undersized drainage pipes.
It is surprising that many houses have common pipe, which needs correction. At the same time MCC and MUDA have not taken any initiative for this correction.
In the present pandemic situation with many losing jobs, MCC can hire people on temporary basis, for the checks and collecting fines. A portion of fine can be paid to these hired persons.
If correction is not made within stipulated time, a higher fine for second offence be levied.
Will the MCC and MUDA Commissioners, wake up and act?
