Commonwealth Chess 2017: IM Thejkumar shocks GM Praveen Thipsay

Mysuru lad IM M.S. Thejkumar (Rating 2491), taking part in the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2017 in Delhi, shocked GM Praveen Thipsay (Rating 2419) in the eighth and penultimate round of the championships yesterday.

After eight rounds, Thejkumar has secured 6 points and is placed sixth in the rankings. Three players GM Abhijeet Gupta and GM Vaibhav Suri and IM Wohl Aleksandar are tied with 6.5 points from eight rounds and are placed one to third in the rankings.

Five players, GM Abhijit Kunte, GM Tejas Bakre, IM M.S. Thejkumar, IM P. Shyamnikhil and FM Erigaisi Arjun are tied with 6 points each and are placed from fourth to eighth in the rankings.
