Complainant in POCSO case against BSY dies

Bengaluru: The complainant in a case filed against former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa (BSY) under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, has died of respiratory related health issue at a private hospital near Hulimavu in city on Sunday.

The 53-year-old complainant in the case, had accused Yediyurappa of sexually assaulting her 17-year-old minor daughter, when the duo had been to the BJP strongman’s house on Feb. 2 this year. The mother and daughter had gone to Yediyurappa’s residence in Dollars Colony seeking his help to exert pressure on the State Government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the complaint of sexual assault of the girl by a relative. Yediyurappa had spoken to the woman and her daughter for nine minutes only to console them. However, after a few days, in March this year, she had filed a complaint against Yediyurappa only (which is being probed by Criminal Investigation Department (CID)).

It is said that, the woman was suffering from cancer and had been admitted to the hospital for treatment, where she died of respiratory related issues.

She is survived by her daughter and a son.
