State Government has decided to convert the huge quantity of solid waste being generated in city into compost manure and provide to farmers at a reduced price.
At the ‘Compost Santhe’ organised in front of Vidhana Soudha yesterday, the compost manure was handed over to farmers and Chief Minister Siddharamaiah flagged off the trucks loaded with the manure.
The Government has established four units in city to process solid waste to compost manure which has accumulated in huge quantity without being disposed and hence, the Government has come forward to offer the manure to farmers at reduced rate.
Minister for Agriculture Krishna Byre Gowda, Mayor Padmavathi and others were present on the occasion.
