Congress activists meet DCP demanding action against Rangayana Director

Congress delegation submitting a memorandum to DCP M. Muthuraj at his office yesterday.

Mysore/Mysuru: Days after supporters of former CM Siddharamaiah and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar protested against Rangayana for what they called showing their leaders in poor light, a delegation of the Congress party met DCP M. Muthuraj at his office yesterday and sought action against Rangayana Director Addanda C. Cariappa.

A formal complaint was handed over to the DCP by Rural District Congress Legal and Human Rights Committee alleging that the play ‘Sambashiva Prahasana’ at Rangayana twisted the contents of the play to create social unrest and disturb peace in the society.

As part of the Nagarathnamma Theatre Camp organised by Rangayana, director Karthik Upamanyu and several students recently staged the play  ‘Sambashiva Prahasana,’ an adaptation of a book written by Dr. Kambara. The Congress alleged that the dialogues in the play were tweaked without mentioning their names to refer to Congress Legislature Party leader Siddharamaiah, showing him in poor light, and also to insult Shivakumar.

The delegation told the DCP that even Dr. Chandrashekhara Kambara has sought action from Mysuru City Police for the alleged unauthorised use and distortion of his play while being enacted                                                                        in a drama.

Rural District Congress Legal and Human Rights Committee President Palya Suresh, District Congress President B.J. Vijaykumar, KPCC Spokesperson M. Lakshmana, KPCC Legal State Secretary Kavitha Kale and others were present.
