Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing the Siddaramaiah Government of betraying Constitutional aspirations, Karnataka ‘Ahinda’ Sanghatanegala Okkoota will hold a ‘Congress Hatao, Dalit Bachao’ rally at Freedom Park in Bengaluru at 11 am on Aug. 28.
Addressing a press conference at Pathrakartara Bhavan here recently, Okkoota leader Prof. Hariram announced that the rally is a protest against the perceived anti-Dalit stance of the State Congress Government.
He claimed that Dalits in Karnataka are not being protected and accused Congress of betraying the Dalit community by diverting SCSP and TSP funds to finance their guarantee schemes and other unrelated purposes.
Prof. Hariram pointed out that Dalit organisations had supported the Congress in last year’s Assembly elections, but since coming to power, the party has discontinued existing plans and schemes instead of implementing pro-Dalit policies.
He criticised efforts by some groups to protect Siddaramaiah’s reputation through a ‘Siddaramaiah Bachao, Dalit Hatao’ campaign, stating that such efforts would not resonate with backward communities. He reaffirmed that the Okkoota remains committed to advocating for the rights of Dalits and other backward classes.
Actor Ahimsa Chetan, who also spoke, condemned the Siddaramaiah Government for failing to introduce reservations in the private sector. He charged the Congress Government with reinforcing anti-Dalit practices rather than promoting pro-Dalit policies.
He emphasised that Aug. 28 rally in Bengaluru would be attended by those who support the provisions of the Constitution.
Other leaders present at the press conference included Bhaskar Prasad, Ramesh, Mohandas, Shankaralingaiah and Sosale Siddaraju.
