Bengaluru: Leader of the Opposition Siddharamaiah on Sunday urged Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to announce a package for daily wage workers during the 15-day lockdown in the State.
In a letter to Yediyurappa, the former CM urged for providing a ration of 10 kg of rice along with cooking oil. With compensation of Rs. 10,000 for each BPL family, then Rs. 6,000 per month.
He pointed out that during lockdown norms, banks, ATMs, hospitals opened but using vehicles was banned and even hotel allowed parcels, but no vehicle moment, is it a Tuglak Government, he questioned.
Siddharamaiah asked how villagers could bring essentials by walking 3 to 4 km and who would be held responsible if anything happens to them. This government has no common sense while issuing the orders, he said.
He termed the ruling BJP Government as more deadly than the virus infection and the lockdown imposed by them and guidelines issued was in total confusion.
“We need to utilise the oxygen produced in us. District oxygen units should be installed. Oxygen cylinder sales were cut short and the homeowners demanded that they get oxygen,” he pointed out.
