Sir,
Street lights in SBM Colony, Srirampura, are in poor shape as more than 100 street lights are not glowing for which light fittings are due to be replaced. The street lights in the Colony were fixed way back in 1993 and after several years, the fittings are worn out due to rusting on exposure to rains and sun’s hot rays.
Whenever there is complaint of light not glowing from the residents, the MCC has been changing the tube lights promptly but in several cases, as the fittings are rusted and worn out, where they need to be replaced by new ones, no action has been taken and their numbers are increasing day by day.
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), which has to take initiative, expresses its helplessness for want of funds or planning to replace them by LED bulbs. Same state of affairs has been continuing for years together without any action by MCC despite several complaints from the residents.
As street lights are very much essential for our safety, I request the MCC Commissioner to give top most priority to this serious civic problem and make immediate arrangements either to replace the worn out light fittings by new ones or provide LED bulbs throughout the layout without any further delay.
