Constitute Technical Committee to survey KRS Dam: MLC

Mysore/Mysuru: MLC A.H. Vishwanath has urged the State Government to constitute a Technical Committee to survey KRS Dam and provide a correct report to the people.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, he said that though a lot of discussions were going on with regard to cracks and leaks in KRS Dam, the CM, who also holds Water Resources portfolio, has remained silent on the issue and alleged that any portfolio with the CM will remain dead.

Pointing out that KRS Dam is the pride of all Kannadigas, the MLC said that a lot of efforts were taken to construct the Dam with the crest gates being brought from London.

Mandya MP Sumalatha says that the Dam had developed cracks while former CM Kumaraswamy says the opposite. They both are not engineers or experts but just politicians. Hence, the State Government should come out with a clarification on the Dam developing cracks as the people residing in its surroundings are now living in constant fear, he observed.

Vishwanath said that the CM, Mandya District Minister, Mandya DC and other officials should hold a meeting and give correct information to the people as KRS Dam provides water to four States.
