Contract company employee accused of stealing Rs. 6 lakh from SBI

Mysore/Mysuru: The Lashkar Police have booked an employee of SBI’s contract company for allegedly stealing Rs. 6 lakh of the Bank’s money.

Details: The SBI City Main Branch on Irwin Road had contracted Delhi-based Giesecke & Devrient (Gsec) company for carrying soiled notes from the Bank to RBI for destruction there.

K.K. Nagendra, an employee of the Bengaluru branch of the company, who had come to the Bank for carrying soiled notes, is accused of stealing Rs. 6,01,100 and the matter came to light when the RBI wrote to the SBI stating that it had received Rs. 6,01,100 worth of soiled currency notes in short.

Subsequently, the footages recorded in CCTV cameras installed at the Irwin Road SBI were scrutinized, when it was found that Nagendra had stolen the currency notes, following which the Bank Manager (Government Accounts) T. Rajesh filed a complaint with the jurisdictional Lashkar Police Station. The Police are investigating.
