Theft occurred when he and his family went to Bannur to visit his ailing mother
Mysore/Mysuru: Burglars have made away with gold ornaments and cash from the house of a contractor in B.M. Sri Nagar here, while he had gone to Bannur to attend the last rites of his mother.
The burglary took place at the house of Basavaraju on Saturday night. Basavaraju, who received information about his mother taking ill suddenly, left to Bannur along with his family members on Saturday afternoon. As his mother passed away on same night, Basavaraju and his family members stayed in Bannur to attend the last rites on Sunday.
After performing the last rites on Sunday late evening, Basavaraju and his family members returned to Mysuru and on arriving at their house, they were shocked to see the front door of the house forcibly opened.
On entering the house, the family found the cupboard ransacked and gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.34 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh cash kept in the cupboard stolen and informed the jurisdictional Metagalli Police.
Metagalli Inspector Diwakar and staff, who rushed to the house, conducted mahazar, registered a case. They have collected the footages of CCTV cameras in the vicinity, to nab the burglars.
