Mysuru: A convention in memory of Tipu Sultan and his contributions will be held in Mysuru tomorrow on the occasion of his 218th death anniversary.
Prior to the convention, freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy will offer floral tribute at 9 am to the late ruler at the place where Tipu’s body was found in Srirangapatna.
Later, former Minister B.T. Lalitha Naik will garland the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in front of the Town Hall and flag off a rally to the Dasara Exhibition Grounds where a day-long convention will be held.
The convention will be inaugurated by Belimath Seer Sri Shivarudra Mahaswami and it will feature discussions on ‘Indian freedom struggle, creation of modern Karnataka and Tipu Sultan’ and ‘Tipu’s contribution to empowerment of Shudras, Dalits and Backward Classes.’
KRRS leader and MLA K.S. Puttannaiah, litterateurs Devanur Mahadeva, Banjagere Jayaprakash and Kalegowda Nagawara, former MLC A.K. Subbaiah, journalist Gowri Lankesh and others will be present at the convention.
