Cop, wife booked for cheating chit fund investors

Mysore/Mysuru: A Police Head Constable and his wife have been booked on the charges of cheating crores of money to the people who had invested in their chit fund business.

Head Constable Somashekar and his wife Dakshayini, a nurse at a private hospital are the accused, against whom a case has been booked at K.R. Police Station. This follows a complaint by trader B.N. Prashanth of Ramanuja Road, who has also attached a list of people, who have been taken for a ride by the accused.

The couple has been running a chit fund business and collected several crores of rupees towards instalments from Feb. 5, 2019 from Police personnel, hospital staff and general public, without returning the amount.

Instead, Somashekar has purchased 70 to 80 acres of land in the name of his wife and mother-in-law at his native Channapatna. Whenever investors demand the amount, Somashekar threatens to end his life by leaving a death note blaming the investors for abetment, according to the complaint.

Several people have already lodged complaints against the couple who have obtained bail from a Court, according to the complaint.
