New Delhi: Errors in names and other details in the Permanent Account Number (PAN) can now be corrected online, with the Income Tax Department adding two hyperlinks on its e-filing website.
One of them is to make changes in the PAN data or for an Indian or foreigner to apply for it. The other hyperlink helps update Aadhaar data by logging on to the Aadhaar self-service update portal. The individual can then upload scanned documents as proof for data update.
Last week, the Department launched a facility for linking Aadhaar and PAN. A person needs to enter PAN and Aadhaar, along with his name as given in the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) data.
After verification from the UIDAI, the linking will be confirmed. In case of any minor mismatch in Aadhaar name, an Aadhaar OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with the UIDAI.
Additionally, the Department has now launched the facility to correct errors in PAN or Aadhaar data.
