Even as the supporters of various candidates at the counting centre in Maharani’s College of Commerce and Management on Valmiki Road were busy with the counting, in the neighbouring Smt. H. Leela Channaiah Kalyan Mantap, the attendance at the marriage of Nagashree from Mysuru and M.D. Arun from Bengaluru was very thin.
The couple’s families were expecting nearly 1,500 guests. But hardly 300 to 350 turned up.
When asked the reason for the thin attendance, one of the relatives of the bride said that as the Kalyan Mantap was right next to the counting centre, the guests who were to attend the wedding found it very difficult to pass through the barricades set up and the tight Police security. Hence, many of them might have decided to skip the wedding, he felt.
The meal has been cooked for nearly 1,500 guests and the worry for the families is that it might go waste.
However, the Police, it is said, had given permission to perform the wedding.
