Rs.26 lakh cash, 78 grams gold, 276 grams silver offered at hundis
Srirangapatna: The counting of offerings at the hundis (offering boxes) at Sri Nimishamba Temple in Ganjam of Srirangapatna was taken up on Monday and more than Rs.26 lakh cash, 78 grams gold and 276 grams of silver have been offered by the devotees since past two-and-a-half months.
The counting was taken up on Mar.25 evening by the staff of State Bank of India (SBI), Srirangapatna Branch and members of Sthree Shakthi organisations in the presence of Tahsildar Nagaprashant.
All the 17 hundis were opened and the counting was taken up and a total of Rs.26,81,579 cash was counted. The devotees have also offered de-monitised currencies. One Rs.1,000 currency and four Rs.500 currencies were found.
While the cash has been deposited at SBI, the gold and silver has been kept at the Sub-Treasury of the Srirangapatna Tahsildar. The previous counting was taken up on Jan.10.
Temple Management Committee President G.S. Shivu, Member Ganjam Manju, Superintendent Dinesh, Supervisor Suryanarayana Bhat and others were present.
