Couple being swept away in river rescued by fishermen

Husband had jumped into the river to rescue wife who slipped and fell into river while taking selfies

Srirangapatna: Local fishermen have rescued a couple who was being swept away in the river near the bridge on KRS Road on Saturday evening.

The husband had jumped to the river to rescue his wife who had slipped and fell into the river while clicking selfies.

Ganesh and Asha, residents of Koorgalli in Mysuru taluk, are the couple, who were rescued by the fishermen.

Ganesh, who saw his wife being swept away in the river, jumped to her rescue and the couple was being swept away due to strong currents. Meanwhile, local fishermen and Police, who were deployed for security purpose following Dasara festivities, managed to rescue the couple and the KRS Police, after collecting information, sent the couple to Mysuru for treatment.

Later, the couple, who came to the Police Station, gave a written undertaking stating that they had slipped and fell into the river while taking selfies, informed KRS Sub-Inspector Lingaraju to SOM.
