Couple cheat Bank by producing fake documents and obtaining loan

Mysore/Mysuru: Jayalakshmipuram Police have registered a case against a couple on charges of cheating a Bank by submitting fake documents and obtaining Rs. 1.25 crore loan.

The couple, against whom the case has been registered, are Kala and B. Sundaresh, residents of Vinayakanagar in city. The case was registered following a complaint from IDBI Bank Manager SavithaUmamani.

In her complaint, Savitha has stated that Kala and Sundaresh had opened a joint account in the Bank and in 2023, the couple, after submitting fake documents had obtained a total loan of Rs. 1.25 crore which was disbursed in two phases.

Bank Manager Savitha further stated in her complaint that the couple, who paid the instalments correctly for a few months stopped paying the same following which the Bank staff went to their house for inspection, during which the staff came to know that the couple had already pledged the house documents in a different Bank and had taken loan. The Bank staff also came to know that the other Bank had seized the house.

When the IDBI Bank staff cross verified the documents submitted by Kala and Sundaresh, they found that the documents were fake, following which Bank manager Savitha lodged a complaint at Jayalakshmipuram Police Station seeking legal action against the accused couple.
