Couple killed as car hits bike

Mandya: The family members of a couple, who were killed in a road accident between Keregodu village and Marilinganadoddi in the taluk, gave their consent to donate the organs, thus displaying their humanitarian concern even in grief.

The deceased are C. Manju (46) and his wife H.S. Suneela (40), residents of Chikkabanasawadi near Keregodu village. While Suneela was killed on the spot in the accident that took place on Wednesday, Manju, who had sustained serious injuries and admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru, succumbed to injuries yesterday.

On Wednesday, the couple were proceeding to a temple at Keregodu village on their bike when a car rammed into their  bike from behind near Marilinganadoddi, killing Suneela on the spot and seriously injuring Manju.

Manju was rushed to Mandya District Hospital, where he was provided first-aid and was later shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru, where he breathed his last yesterday afternoon.

The doctors, who announced the death of Manju to the family members, counselled them about the importance of organ donation following which the family members gave their consent to donate the organs of Manju.

A case has been registered at Keregodu Police Station.
