COVID-19 effect: Farmers’ Assn. demands ban on marriage and other events

Mysore/Mysuru: Farmer leader and Karnataka State Federation of Farmer Associations President Kurubur Shantakumar has urged the State Government to order a blanket ban on marriage and  such other functions in order to contain the rapid spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Shantakumar said that Positive COVID-19 cases are rising  alarmingly by the day in the State and the Government has been struggling to stop the spread of the deadly virus. In such a situation it is advisable to order a blanket ban on marriages and such other functions, where people gather in high numbers, as a measure to check the spread, he said.

Urging the Government for announcing far more stricter measures, he said that all those found violating lockdown norms should be penalised.
