Mysore/Mysuru: With COVID-19 spreading unabatedly across the country, the city’s Brahmana Paraspara Sahaya Vedike performed a Mrutyunjaya Homa at Kashi Vishwanath Temple premises on Ramanuja Road here, under the leadership of KR MLA S.A. Ramdas yesterday.
The Homa was carried out by Palace Priests Kumar and Vidwan Chandru, praying for the total destruction of the Novel Coronavirus that is creating havoc across the globe.
However, the Homa was disrupted for a while due to a honeybee attack. Even as the Homa was taking place, the fumes arising out of the Homa resulted in a swarm of bees coming out of a honey comb from a peepal tree located close to the temple.
The bees are said to have attacked about six people present during the Homa. But after a few minutes, the bees flew out of the temple arena as fumes spread wider, thus bringing relief to the gathering. After a brief disruption, the rituals continued.
Speaking to press persons on the occasion, Ramdas explained the purpose of the Homa in the wake of COVID-19.
He said that the Homa was performed praying the almighty to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
