Sir,
The arrival of self-test kits for covid-19 is a welcome step as these are fairly cheap apart from preventing the need to visit test centres. This way, it is a boon.
The rule says that those availing self-tests have to upload the result, if found positive, on the ICMR site.
If negative, it may necessitate RT-PCR test to establish its veracity. The bane begins here. For, most of the times people may not follow the set rules due to many a reason.
Those who get a positive result may move freely around putting the fellow beings at risk of exposure on the one hand while the non-reporting can lead to improper reporting of cases on the other.
Can it be hoped that the authorities take a note of this and take suitable steps to set things straight?
