Mysuru: JSS Mahavidyapeetha has organised a Handicraft Exhibition at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Plot No. 432, Ring Road, Hebbal Industrial Area in city from Feb. 2 to Feb.11 on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.
Sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, the expo will be inaugurated on Feb.2 at 4 pm by Minister Dr. Geetha Mahadevaprasad.
MP Pratap Simha will preside. MLA G.T. Devegowda will be the special invitee. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Prof. M.H. Dhananjaya, Advisor, JSS Technical Education Division, H. Ramakrishnegowda, Joint Director, District Industries Centre, H.Janardhan, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism, Mysuru and Sashidhar, Assistant Director, Handicraft Marketing & Service Extension Centre, Mysuru, will be the chief guests.
More than 50 craftspersons from all over India including National and State awardees will be exhibiting and selling their attractive traditional and heritage artifacts at this exhibition which will be open from 10 am to 9 pm on all the days. There is no entry and parking fee.
There will be live demonstrations in art and craft making apart from display of Punjabi Phulkari/Patiala Suits, Bhagalpur Tassar Silk sarees/duppatta, Bastar Iron Craft from Madhya Pradesh, Horn Products, Grass Mats/ Curtains, Jaipur Kurthas & Raprons, Kanjivaram Silk Sarees, Ilakal Kasuthi and Molakalmur sarees of Karnataka, Boutique sarees and Dress, Bengali Cotton sarees, Kashmir Handlooms, Wood Carving & furniture from Saharanpur, Gujarat Dress, Dry flower, all kinds of Leather & Jute products, Vegetable print Dress Materials, Imitation Jewellery, Gem Stone Jewellery, Marble Painting, Channapattana Toys, Terracotta items and other attractive handicrafts and Handloom items.
