‘Create better environment for working women’

Mysore/Mysuru: Chief Superintendent of Mysuru Central Prisons K.C. Divyashree has urged employers to create better environment for working women, while speaking at a function jointly organised by Negilayogi Samaja Seva Trust and Negilayogi Mahileyara Kehsmabhivruddhi Sangha to commemorate the International Women’s Day at Negilayogi Maruleshwara Bhavan in the city, on Wednesday.

“The Supreme Court has advised the Government and private organisations to set up complaints redressal committee in their offices to solve the problems of women employees at their work places. But our colleagues are not aware of this. When it comes to respecting the women there are confusions in society. Women have achieved enough despite limited opportunities that came in their way in the male dominated society, which tried to confine them within the four walls of their house,” said Divyashree.

Observing that the achievement of women in our country is very less when compared to their population, Divyashree said that this is because in every society and every family they have to discharge their responsibilities  on par with men, which is inevitable for a stable society. Once the achievement of women becomes a tradition, then it becomes a part of the society, added the Chief Jail Superintendent.

President of Negilayogi Mahileyara Kshemabhivriddhi Sangha   J. Shobha Ramesh, who too spoke on the occasion, pointed out that women who were earlier restricted to their kitchen have now become achievers in every field. “But still, even today women are being exploited. The laws must be made more stringent on exploitation of women. Women by attaining education, must come forward to achieve more and they should become socially, economically, academically and politically more strong,”   she concluded.

Vidyavardaka Law College Principal Dr. C. Deepu, progressive woman farmer Chaitra Raj, businesswoman Ramya Umashankar, talented student Durga Bhavani were felicitated at the function.

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Assistant Commissioner Chandramma, Deputy Director of Karnataka Audit and Accounts Department Savitha, Professor Dr. H.P. Geeta, Secretary Manjula Bhadregowda, Treasurer Innu Suvarna Raj and Directors of the Sangha were present.
