Mayakara Gurukala has organised a cricket tournament exclusively for astrologers and purohits on July 28 and 29 at Railway Sports Grounds in city.
Disclosing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here on Monday, Mayakara Gurukula President Dr. Mugur Dikshit opined that purohits get stressed being involved daily in performing pujas, chanting mantras and participating in homas. He contended that the cricket tournament would be a good stress-buster.
Continuing, Dikshit said that the event was being held for the first time with four teams from Mysuru and 16 teams from Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Tumkuru, Haveri and other places participating in the tourney. He added that the tournament would prove that purohits and astrologers too have talent in sports.
Dikshit further said that each match in the tournament would be of eight overs and the finals will have 12 overs. He added that the winning team will bag a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and a trophy with runners-up getting Rs.5,000 in cash. He said that actor ‘Kicha’ Sudeep had released the tournament trophy on July 21 in Bengaluru.
