Mysuru: Criminology and Forensic Science students of Maharaja’s College staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office (DC) here yesterday demanding reservation of jobs in Police Department for candidates holding degrees and post-graduate degrees in Criminology and Forensic Science.
Claiming that Criminology students are facing large-scale unemployment as they lacked suitable job opportunities, the protesters demanded reservation of jobs in Police Department as the Department was very much in need of qualified Criminology students. Maintaining that Criminology students were given priority in Police recruitments in Kerala and other States, the protesters urged the Government to seriously consider their plea of job reservation in the police Dept.
Earlier, the students marched in a procession from Maharaja’s College to the DC’s office passing through Ramaswamy Circle and JLB Road.
They also warned of intensifying their protest if the Government failed to meet their demand.
