Two years after sitting out of prestigious Indian Premiere League (IPL), the BCCI welcomed its two franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals back to the league. Both teams will feature in IPL 2018. The two franchises were suspended for two years on allegations of their players allegedly getting into illegal practises.
BCCI Acting President C.K. Khanna in a press release said “IPL will be enriched by the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Both the teams have enjoyed tremendous on-field success and have a mass following. The loyal fans will again get to see their favourite teams and stars in action from the upcoming season of the VIVO IPL.”
The BCCI has formed two new franchises Pune Supergaint and Gujarat Lions as a replacement for the suspended teams. The board had also made it clear that no extension would be given to the new franchises.
