Curfew: Road blocks will deter free movement of emergency vehicles

D. Devaraj Urs Road

Sir,

Since the declaration of COVID Curfew, it is observed that Police are blocking many main roads and sub-roads with barricades. Is it really necessary to block the roads to restrict the vehicular movements during the lockdown period?

Blocking roads will deter the free and fast movement of emergency vehicles, where every second is precious to the save the lives in critical conditions.

Instead of blocking the roads, Police can have their own check-posts to curtail unnecessary and unwarranted vehicular movements. By doing so, the people coming out for genuine reasons are not harassed or forced to take a de-tour wasting their precious time.

People coming out for any frivolous and invalid reasons may definitely be punished, but certainly not at the cost of people coming out for genuine reasons, who are constrained to face the road blocks.
