Mysuru: “There are lot of issues regarding the road connectivity between Wayanad and Mysuru Districts and if this is resolved then the tourism and resorts in both the States will be benefited,” said Kerala’s Wayanad District Collector S. Suhas.
He was speaking at the valedictory of the Mysore Travel Mart-18 organised by Mysore Travels Association, Mysuru Hotel Owners Association, Karnataka Tourism Department and Karnataka Tourism Forum, at the Platinum Jubilee Auditorium in J.K. Grounds, here yesterday.
Suhas said “Kerala Government is giving importance to tourism by using the available resources. Likewise, in Karnataka, a lot of importance is given to development of industries. However, in Kerala a ‘District Tourism Council’ has been set up under the respective District Collectors. Through this council, a lot of publicity is being made about Kerala’s tourism, which in turn is helping its growth.”
He said that there is a lot of scope to develop tourism in Mysuru District and a lot of importance has to be given for the development of important tourist places like the Mysore Palace and KRS. Similarly, efforts are on to chalk out plans for the development of Wayanad District and for this the co-operation of the Mysuru District Commissioner is very essential, he added.
Revealing that he hails from Mandya district and is related to Dr. Ramegowda, who was the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner in 2013, he said that if the resorts and hotels in both Mysuru and Wayanad develop, it would benefit both the districts.
Mysore Travels Association President B.S. Prashanth said that the tourists who visit Mysuru had also visited the Travel Mart. Apart from this both the hoteliers of Mysuru and Wayanad have joined hands for the development of both the districts and signed a few memorandums between them, he added.
Meeting at Bengaluru Aranya Bhavan today
Forest Minister B. Ramanath Rai is chairing a meeting today in Bengaluru in the presence of the officials of both the States to discuss the development of the National Highway connecting the Mysuru and Wayanad and other issues, said Wayanad District Collector S. Suhas.
There is a need for lot of publicity abroad to promote tourist places in both the districts which would create a lot of jobs locally, he said and added that pressure should be brought to remove obstacles for the movement of vehicles between the two States. Mysore Travels Association, Mysuru Hotel Owners Association and Karnataka Tourism Department should join hands for this development, he urged.
