CWG – Day 8: Three gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze medals in wrestling

Wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Deepak Punia increased India’s gold medal haul at the CWG 2022 in style yesterday.

In the men’s 65kg final, Punia defeated Canada’s Lachlan McNeil while in the women’s 62kg final, Malik beat Canada’s Ana Godinez Gonzalez.

Then in the men’s 86kg final, Punia beat Pakistan’s Muhammad Inam.

Earlier, India’s Anshu Malik clinched silver after losing to Nigeria’s Odunayo Folasade in women’s 57kg final while Divya Kakran (women’s 68kg) and Mohit Grewal (men’s 125kg) won a bronze medal each.

Indian badminton star P.V. Sindhu has entered the women’s Singles quarter-finals while Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen have entered the quarter-finals of men’s Singles.

Bhavinaben Patel reached the final of the women’s Singles para Table Tennis classes 3-5.

In Table Tennis, Manika Batra lost in the women’s Singles quarter-finals. However, three Indian male Table Tennis players including Achanta Sharath Kamal entered the quarter-finals of men’s Singles.

Star sprinter Hima Das finished third in her women’s 200m semi-final but could not advance to the final. The Indian women’s Hockey team lost to Australia in the semi-final.
