Cyber criminals cheat women of Rs. 50 lakh by promising high returns on investment

Mysuru: In separate cases, online fraudsters have cheated two women of over Rs. 50 lakh after promising them high profits on their investments.

In the first case, a 28-year-old woman from Rajivnagar got introduced to one Prashanth on Telegram App, lured her into investing money in a company with a promise of getting high profit.

Believing him, the woman invested Rs. 1.50 lakh from her husband’s Bank account. In about two months she saw that she had Rs. 3.30 lakh in her mobile app wallet. But when she tried to withdraw the money from the wallet, she was told to deposit Rs. 5.50 lakh so that she could withdraw everything in the wallet following which she deposited the said amount.

In all, the woman invested a total of Rs. 30.78 lakh in phases. As she did not receive any profit and did not receive any response from anyone, the woman realised that she had been cheated and lodged a complaint.

In the second case, a 33-year-old woman, came in contact with one Prabhu, who told her to invest money in Crypto Launcher so that she could get 20 to 25 percent profit for her investment.

Believing him, the woman invested a total of Rs. 29 lakh in phases and she also received Rs. 9.07 lakh as profit in two months.

Later, all transactions stopped suddenly and the woman then realised that she was taken for a ride by cyber criminals.

City’s CEN Police, have registered separate cases.
