Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their long-standing demands, over 500 contract employees, welfare employees and regularised daily wage employees, under the banner of The Karnataka State Government Daily Wage Employees Federation, Hubballi, took out a massive rally in city yesterday.
The rally, which commenced from Town Hall, passed through Gandhi Square, Sayyaji Rao Road, Dufferin Clock Tower, D. Devaraj Urs Road, Metropole Circle and Hunsur Road to reach the DC office, where a memorandum containing the charter of demands was submitted.
The demands included an end to contract employment system, regularisation of all contract employees as done in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and J&K, implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, effective from April 1, 2018, grant of 100 percent Dearness and House Rent Allowance, grand of new pension scheme, extension of appointment on compassionate grounds and sanction of encashment for unavailed earned leaves, among others.
The protesters warned of launching an indefinite dharna at Bengaluru during the coming Session of the State Legislature, if their demands are not met.
Employees from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Tumakuru, Chitradurga and Ramanagaram districts took part in the rally.
