Dalit organisations stage dharna against Union Home Minister

Mysuru: Strongly condemning Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s alleged remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, members of various Dalit and social organisations staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Bannur Road in Siddarthanagar this morning.

The demonstrators demanded Shah’s immediate removal from his position and a public apology.

The protestors lambasted Shah for allegedly disrespecting Dr. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, and accused him of undermining the legacy of a national icon.

Holding placards and raising slogans, they urged the Government to take stern action against such comments.

Former Mayor Purushotham, along with leaders Vasu, K.S. Shivaramu, Dyavappa Nayaka, Raju and Ravi, were among those who participated in the demonstration, showcasing solidarity against the alleged insult to Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to the nation.
