Mysuru: The Dalita Sanghatanegala Okkota will stage a demonstration in Bengaluru on June 15 to demand promotion, reservation in jobs and for continuing the Dalit Atrocities (Prevention) Act in its present form.
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, Okkoota district President and former Mayor Purushottam said that the demonstration will be held at Freedom Park in Bengaluru.
Maintaining that the 2002 Promotion Reservation Act has not yet come in the State, he expressed disappointment over the demotion of SC/ST officers, even before the Government is yet to implement the Act.
Accusing anti-dalit officers of acting against the Supreme Court order, be urged the Government to initiate action against all those who were acting against the interests of dalit officers.
He further said that thousands of people from SC/ST communities from across the State will take part in the demonstration which is aimed at urging the Government for protecting the rights and interests of SC/ST officers, who are staring at demotion.
Okkoota office-bearer Maliyur Somaiah, leader Dyavappa Nayaka and others were present at the press meet.
