Danseur Narendra to perform at Ganabharathi on Sunday

Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised a dance performance by Vid. G. Narendra on Sunday (Aug.6) at 6.30pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar.

Narendra, a seasoned and experienced Bharathanatyam dancer, is known for his outstanding choreographic skills. Originally from Mysuru, he moved to Chennai to be a faculty at the reputed Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts.  

A versatile artiste, who has portrayed a variety of roles, Narendra and his associate K. Mahalakshmi jointly head the Avigna Dance Ensemble, a group of dedicated professional dancers. His creativity lies in his choreography, which stands apart and his forte is effective improvisations using different techniques of dance.

The Avigna Dance Ensemble is a team of dancers committed to the pursuit of excellence in their chosen medium of expression. Narendra has been closely associated with the Cleveland Cultural Alliance, USA.

Some of the productions choreographed by Narendra are: Abyasa, The Living Tree, Silappadikaram. These productions have been staged both in India and abroad and  have won high critical acclaim.

The Avigna Dance Ensemble was rated ‘The Best Dance Ensemble’ by the Plain Dealer – a major news publication in the USA.  He and his team had the unique opportunity of performing for the Millennium Mission Congress at St. Peter Square – Vatican City, Rome, in the presence of Pope John Paul II.
