Sir,
With Dasara nearing, traffic management in and around Mysore Palace becomes a nightmare for the Traffic Police. One of the prime traffic contributors are the City Buses.
City bus is very much essential as it replaces lots of vehicles, but the routing of all the buses via City Bus Stand (CBS) and roaming around the Palace creates a major bottleneck.
Due to traffic around Palace, entire City Bus network will slowdown. It is high time to consider circular bus routes connecting localities directly without congesting Central Business District (CBD).
CBS bound buses should end their trip somewhere close to CBS. Buses from Southern and South Western Mysuru coming via Agrahara and 100 Feet Road can return back via road next to Banumaiah College towards Marimallappa’s and Sadvidya and CITB. This road needs to be made one way in the reverse direction.
Similarly, the Northern, North Eastern and North Western buses entering CBS from Gandhi Square should end their trip in front of the Palace/ Gandhi Square and continue journey via Hardinge Circle and Suburban bus stand. Buses entering CBS will have to roam around Palace which would cause additional congestion.
