The University of Mysore (UoM) which is conducting flower shows during Dasara from the last 13 years has also made preparations to conduct the show in a grand manner on Kukkarahalli Tank Bund.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna said the University has decided to keep more than 7,000 decorative flower pots of 40 species notably Zarbera, Lilius, Spray Chrysanthemum, Petunia, Cockscomb,French Marigold and other species.
Entry will be free where visitors can take a glimpse of flowers, exotic plants. Flower variety pots will be kept for public viewing on both Eastern and Western side gate of the tank bund.
The varsity flower show sees huge crowd every year as the venue has a lot of cool air, free from traffic congestion and moreover, there is no parking problem. Visitors can park their vehicle, stroll around the Kukkarahalli Lake after seeing the flowers.
Rajanna also said the Varsity had also taken measures to keep flower pots and plants outside Crawford Hall building footsteps to attract visitors. Instructions have been given to the horticulture wing of UoM to make necessary illumination arrangements too besides ensuring security of flower pots and visitors. This Flower Show will be open for public from Oct.10.
