Mysore/Mysuru: Sandalwood actors and real-life couple Vasishta Simha and Haripriya released the posters of ‘Dasara Doll Contest’ organised by K.M. Praveen Kumar Charitable Trust and Spirit Events, at the Guest House of University of Mysore in city recently.
Speaking after releasing the posters, Simha said “Navarathri is considered as one of the most sacred in the tradition of Mysuru, with Dasara Doll arrangement assuming significance. The mythological stories are told to the younger generation by worshipping pattada gombes in the form of Lord Lakshminarayana. The women in Mysuru are still continuing the tradition of arranging dolls at their home, thus conserving the historical practice.”
The dolls arranged in the manner of reliving the historical tradition will get a first prize of Rs. 2,000, while the second prize winner will get Rs. 1,000 and third prize winner Rs. 500, along with trophy and certificate. All the contestants will be given certificate and memento in the name of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.

The juries will later visit the houses and decide the winners after taking a look at the doll arrangements. President of KMPK Trust Vikram Iyengar, Member of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Nazarbad Nataraj, Ajay Shastri, Ravichandra, Karthik, Darshan, Murali, Varuna Mahadev, Manju and others were present.
