Mysore/Mysuru: The Dasara executive meeting pertaining to Dasara celebrations will be held in Mysuru on Sept. 8, said District Minister S.T. Somashekar. He was speaking to media persons after garlanding the bust of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on the occasion of Teachers’ Day in city this morning.
The Minister said that in view of the expected COVID third wave, a decision to celebrate Dasara in a simple manner was taken at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in Bengaluru recently and Rs. 5 crore grant was sought for Mysuru Dasara. The Chief Minister has sanctioned a total sum of Rs. 6 crore for Dasara celebrations at Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Srirangapatna, he added.
Pointing out that the Chief Minister will decide about the Dasara inaugurator, Minister Somashekar said that they have not sent the names of any one for the inauguration and added that the CM will himself inform the name of the Dasara inaugurator besides stating that the number of people to be allowed for Dasara celebrations will be informed soon.
Stating that Mysuru Dasara will be inaugurated atop Chamundi Hill, he added that the Jumboo Savari will be limited inside Mysore Palace premises and also the nine-day cultural programmes.
