The format of Dasara Games, held traditionally over a period of five decades with events at Taluk, District, Division and State-level, giving an opportunity for the mofussil and rural talents, has seen a shift in the policy by the administrators and this year the format has been revised. Despite protests by the Sports Associations, it is being held in the new format in 25 disciplines from Oct. 10 to 16 in Mysuru. The District Sports Associations, who have been taken aback with the decision of the DYES, KOA and the District Administration to conduct the games in the revised format, will be submitting a memorandum signed by all the Association Secretaries to the DC this evening. They will be taking out a silent march from University Oval grounds to DC’s Office at 4.30 pm before submitting their plea to the DC who is also the Dasara Special Officer. Nearly 100 sports persons and Secretaries from Football, Hockey, Handball, Gymnastics, Cycle-Polo, Swimming, Fencing, Archery, Athletics, Kho-Kho, Basketball, Roller-skating, Badminton, Chess, TT and Tennis have signed the memorandum.
