Sir,
Unlike the previous years of Dasara celebrations, it is heartening to note that Mysuru City Traffic Police have geared up well in advance to monitor the Dasara crowd this year. With the support of many sponsors and Mysuru City Corporation, our Traffic Police have placed a large number of direction indicators which will definitely help the tourists visiting Mysuru. Also many sections of the roads are clearly demarcated with “No Parking’ sign-boards which will support easy flow of traffic.
This year we find lot of open spaces converted into parking lots which will help the people to park their vehicles safely and walk around to enjoy the Dasara illumination.
Only lacuna I could notice was that more than 75 percent of the direction indicators are only in Kannada and the rest in both Kannada and English.
The authorities concerned should have taken extra care to ensure that all the direction indicators are printed both in Kannada and English, thus helping the tourists.
Majority of the tourists will be from outside Karnataka and Kannada sign-boards will be of no support to them.
Even now it is not too late to get the sign-boards in both Kannada and English, thus helping the tourists.
