Dasara Yuva Sambrama from Sept. 15

Mysuru: Eight-day Yuva Sambrama will be held from Sept. 15 as part of Nada Habba Dasara festival in the city, said SP C.B. Ryshyanth.

Presiding over the preliminary  meeting held at University of Mysore Evaluation Bhavan on Monday, he said that this year youth have opportunity to showcase their talents with skits, mono acting and band along with dance programmes.

He informed the College Principals that students can choose from a variety of themes including national integration and conservation of heritage sites, women empowerment and equality, Indian freedom movement, Kannada culture, Folk Art, Swachh Bharat -Swachh Karnataka, health and cleanliness, conservation of forest/Tiger and wildlife protection, ill-effects of smart phone addiction and social media, importance of traffic rules and regulations, unity in diversity during the eight-day spectacle.

The College Principals and Cultural Co-ordinators have been informed to submit their respective themes and dance programme to Yuva Dasara Sub Committee before Sept. 5. Each college can have a group of 25 to 50 students to perform. Depending on grants available, honorarium will be distributed among the respective teams on the same day, he informed.

The organisers will also provide boarding and lodging facilities to the participants traveling from outside city. Transportation will also be provided on prior information to the committee. 

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Societies Ningannaiah urged youth to participate in large numbers and make the event a grand success. He also assured that students coming from rural areas and far-off places will be given preference with regard to transportation and other facilities.

Backward Classes Welfare Department District Officer G.S. Somashekar, Maharani Women’s College Principal Nagendra Prasad and Heads of other colleges were present.
