Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep has directed Mines and Geology Department officials to submit a proposal on constructing a safety wall around closed stone quarries. Chairing a meeting of the Task Force Committee on stone quarrying at his office here on Tuesday, the DC said that the Department should conduct a survey on open quarries and submit a report on building wall as a safety measure.
Mines and Geology Department’s senior Geologist Somashekar informed the meeting that stone quarrying was going on at 20 quarries across the district.
The meeting approved stone quarrying at six acres of patta land coming under Doddakereyur village Survey No. 141, 141/2, 142/2 and 84/3 in H.D. Kote taluk, at 1 acre of patta land coming under Nijaganahalli Sy. No. 29/1 in K.R. Nagar taluk and limestone quarrying at patta land coming under Gopalapura Sy. No. 59 in Jayapura Hobli of the taluk.
The DC also directed to place the proposal seeking permission for setting up M-sand and stone crusher unit in 19.34 acre coming under Sy. No. 121 of Hasuvina Karal village of Haranahalli hobli in Periyapatna taluk, at the next meeting. Officials of the Mines and Geology Department attended the meeting.
